Episode III - My Brand New Levels

Postby alf on 25 May 2009, 16:50

Hi,

I created yet another new Episode III (Die Hard) level and merged it together with 2 other previously created Episode III levels (which I already posted before).

The attached "levels.lr" file contains all of them. levels 1 and 2 were already posted before and the new level I created is number 3. I encourge you to try all of them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In level 1 - You must be able to jump on top of falling bungelings and you must be extremely fast in some sections. You also may have all kind of surprises along the way, especially if you don't make things in the right way. And just near as you begin there is a false brick, which enables you to escape this right-bottom part.

(Only level 1 has one false brick, the 2 other levels does not have any false bricks)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
level 2 - This level has the shape of the number "2 4" and it is my favorite of all three.
The "4" section is extremly hard to complete and the "2" section also has it's own tricks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
level 3 - This level is a bit cumbersome. It is harder to divide it into sections and you will have to visit some of the sections more then once in order to complete it. You also have to think about the order of the sections. Furthermore, In order to complete it you must be able to "remote control" the bungelings - make them move to where you want them to go.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be happy to assist in any of this levels if you have any difficulties.

I also was wondering if someone has already completed my second (The "2 4" shape level).

Attached is the file "levels.lr" (levels 1,2 and 3 are my new created levels)

Enjoy,

Alf

Another excellent level, Alf. I haven't completed it yet, but am already having a lot of fun. I especially enjoy the right, left and bottom edges. To all hardcore Lode Runner fans: this is worth your time!

Congratulations and well done for completing my brand new levels 1 and 3.

You even managed to break my original design in few points (in other words, few sections you made different then my intension), especially the bottom-left section of level 1 (It is possible to complete in just one pass - which is extremely hard), and the left side of level 3 (In which you took a bungling from the bottom and put it into the left-bottom corner hole although my intention was to bring a bungling from the inside part).

Any way, I am going to post another new Die-Hard level (number 4), and I also made some updates to level 1 (To better reflect my design), and to level 2 - I am going to make few changes in the left-bottom side. I decided to keep level 3 as it is, but another challenge - try to edit the bootom part of it according to the attached file, and then try this part again.

My next post will include Brand new level number 4 together with some modifications to levels 1 and 2.

Hi,

In your video "lode_runner_3_3_new_mod", The bottom part is not according to the attached drawing - you should have put a brick instead of the bottom hole as shown in the drawing. But...very nice idea to use 2 bungling in this bottom part - I didn't thought about it.

It is possibe to handle the bottom part by using only 1 bungling - (Takes a bit of practice)

1) Put a bungling in the bottom hole as usual and take all the chests.
2) stand in the most left side, then make a dig to your right - the bungling will start moving left-right-left-right..., after the bungling complete about 4-5 left-right moves, stand on the right edge and make a left dig (dig the brick you stand on) and try going down where the bungling is without being caught, then immediately move to your left and dig to your right. The bungling will fall to this last dig. Stand on top of the bungling and dig to your left and then run away to your left. Now the brick just on top of the bungling will fill and the bungling will go back to the hole where it was, allowing you to complete the circle.

3) In order to run away and also having the bungling follow you -

Put a bungling in the bottom hole as usual
Start by digging the 2 bricks which are to the left of the bungling. (Now you stand right to the hole). The bungling will start moving left-right. After 2 such moves fall down to the left and dig a hole to your left where the bungling will fall. Stand on top of the bungling and dig to your left and then run away to your left. Then you will see that the bungling is following you out.

Nice work. You did it again, and I applaud you for being able to create a full continues movie of my level. I think you will find it very hard to create such a movie for the second level (number 2) - It is very hard to complete this level without using save/load from time to time. This is also true for levels number 4 and 5 (Although it is possible to do, especially for level 5 - But you need much practice and patient).

Well done,

Alf

Wow...Nice Solution for level 4. As Usual, You managed to break my intended design (Maybe I should gave you test my levels before releasing them), especially in the middle part with the 4 chests (square shape) and the rope, which is designed to be completed as the last part, but you managed to complete it much before. Also the bottom-left part was done a bit different then my intention, but with exactly the same principles - Nice.

So...I am going to make some changes in level 4, so it will force you to make the last part really as last. And I found also something I would like to change in level 5 - in it's left part, which will also affect the bottom section (Makes it harder). But right side of level 5 is not going to change at all. I still have to make some tests, so i will post a new version of level 4 and 5 probably tomorrow.

So better wait for my new version of level 5 and in your spare time you can try also the new version of level 4.

Attached is the newest version of levels 4 and 5, also see my new post for all the details.

To swinoPass: A new method for level 4, bottom-left section:

You have to make 2 cycles for collecting all the chests. In this section there are 5 small ladders. Take the top most of them. This is where you start your way for both cycles.
Act fast:
1. Stand on this small ladder and dig to your right, then fall down, take the 2 chests and dig a right hole. Fall again, dig to the right, take the chest and dig to the right (where the chest was). fall down and take the 3 most left chests (The right of them first, then the middle, then the left most of them), then dig the left most brick. Go left and up in the left ladder and then at the top turn right (Take the chest) and jump while digging the right brick in the opposite side. Fall down again all the way down, then up in the left ladder and then to the right and go out of this section.
2. Start the same way as in 1. This time, the 3 left chests in the bottom has already been taken, so in the bottom level, you immediately dig the left most brick, then go left and up in the left ladder, then at the top turn right and jump while digging the right brick in the opposite side. Fall down again all the way down, take the rest of the chests and then...if you fast enough you should make it back to the left ladder, then at the top turn right and continue right and you should be able to make it out of the section.
