Cannot use registration code for Loderunner

Postby pinksurfer on 22 Mar 2009, 22:26

Hi

Some time ago, I would guess about 2 years, my husband purchased your Lode Runner key. He has not had the game on his computer for a while, due to having to format his drive. Now we come to reload the game, it appears to be a new version, and will not accept the registration key we have. I can supply you with the registration code I have, but hesitate from posting publicly on the forum. Please will you advise me.

When I try to enter the code, it will not accept the dash, which is between the numbers and the letters. When I complete the code (minus the dash), the OK button remains unlit, so cannot be pressed.

Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Yes, the new version requires a different registration key.

While you can still download the old version, I recommend that you consider switching to the new one. It features improved user interface, in-built level editor, other enhancements and fixes.

We can offer you this upgrade scheme: buy Lode Runner. Episode III: Die Hard Levels (25 custom levels of the highest difficulty), and we'll provide you with registration keys for the first 2 episodes (featuring the same levels as the old version) for free.

You're welcome to contact us at support@zxgames.com for more detail.

Hi again

Thanks for the quick reply, which solved the problem. Now I have another problem!! Avast has detected the Trojan Backdoor, which I've looked up, and it is Spyware. Is there a way of removing this from Loderunner?

Also, can you tell me if the new Loderunner and your other programs are free of this type of virus/Trojan? I would like to know before I consider purchase.

Many thanks, again, and I look forward to hearing from you.

All the best

Please rest assured that there's no spyware (or any other type of malware) in our games. This is just a false warning, most likely to be caused by the hacker protection mechanism. By the way, using Dr.Web Anti-Virus myself, I've never seen any warnings.

We did address this issue in the new version of Lode Runner (it never happened with other games), as be it a false warning or not, it doesn't produce a good impression on users. You can always download the free demo-version and see if your anti-virus software detects anything.

If it does, please let us know, and we'll look into the issue. However, please let me repeat: we do not insert any malicious code in our programs, and will never do anything like that. Our games are just about games. Nothing "extra".

Thanks for your helpful assistance, it is very much appreciated. What I did with the old Lode Runner was to turn my Anti Virus off, load the programme, then turn the Anti Virus back on, which then deleted the setup dll file. So problem solved with the old programme.

I have also downloaded the trial version of the newer Lode Runner, and that caused no problem with the Anti Virus, as you so rightly thought. So I will be purchasing in the near future.

Thanks again!!
