Oh, I wouldn't be so sure, Syl :-) Later levels are just inhumane. The first 5 or 6 are just a warm-up...

But they have to be "win-able", right?

Yes, of course. At least, David (the creator) claims they are :-) Well, we're also testing them ourselves to make sure they can be beaten.

Yes, this is a known problem. It's going to be fixed in an update, which is coming soon. For now, please use Shift-L to skip this level. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

I've no idea how I managed to complete this level, when I was testing the game, and not notice the lack of exit ladder. It must be that once you've played Lode Runner long enough you don't need one :-)

I can jump ahead a level but how do I go back. I had not completed any lower levels. On the main screen I see the button to see the levels and I can page them by but cannot select.

On level 10, I dispatch the first bungling to the upper left. Then when I drop into the lower level, 3 more come to me and I dig 3 holes. When the 3rd hole starts to fill in, the screen freezes and I have to use task manager to get out. This happens consistently.

Yes, when you skip a level using Shift-L, it's not marked as completed. However you can always go back to the last of completed levels (using the "Levels" button) and use Shift-L again to navigate through levels upwards.

Yes, this is a known issue. We seem to have fixed it and now just need to confirm the fix to include it in the public version.

Can you please download and unpack this archive, and replace the original LR.exe file (by default, located in "C:\Program Files\ZX Games\Lode Runner. Episode III"? Please let us know whether or not this eliminates the problem.

Thank you very much.

I downloaded what looked like a zip file. I placed the zip file in the LRlll folder and clicked it and told it to extract. It looked like the original LRlll icon but it would not open.

Hmm...

Please take a look at the attached screen shot. As you can see, I'm just extracting the file in the program folder, replacing the original LR.exe. Works as a charm.

These are the points to keep in mind:
  • don't confuse episodes, this file is for Episode III: Die Hard Levels;
  • make sure you overwrite the original file;
  • make sure you're running the new file then.
If you're still facing the same problem, please let me know what exactly happens when you're trying to run the new file (a screen shot would be helpful).

Thank you.
